I bought a pair of sunglasses from one of the Luxottica brands not long ago and I regretted it. Since then I've been trying out different brands not owned by them, to see what else is out there. I came across the Toroe brand on Amazon and was curious to see what they are about. As far as I can tell they are not owned by them. After opening the package and trying them on, I can say the glasses do have a great look. The lenses are flawless mirrors tinted with the color of choice. I ordered ice blue with gray frames and I am liking how they look. They have a nice classic shape but with a bit of contemporary aesthetic. The branding on the sides is raised white lettering. Theres is also a tiny brand mark on the corner of one lense. The glasses come with a wiping cloth and a cloth bag. They are pretty big sunglasses and fit my face great. The material used in the frames seems rugged and very comfortable. The hinges have zero play and open smoothly. The stems do not flop around and will stop at whatever angle I let go. This might change with time, but I can always tighten the screw. From what I can tell the hinges themselves are molded as part of the frames, and then held together with a solid metal pin screw. The strength of the hinge will depend on the strength of the frame material. The material used in these frames is advertised as being very strong and, as far as I can tell, it is. I didn't want to test it too far, because I like these glasses, but I bent the stems pretty far and they bounced right back. The optics are also good on these. I see no distortion. There's a nice wide field of view with plenty of color. Next to the aforementioned Luxottica brand, these are comparable at half the price. They both have polycarbonate lenses, both have decent optics, both look good, but I actually like the frame material on the Toroe better. It has a smooth matte feel that feels better on the skin than shiny black polymer. The other glasses do have metal hinges and come with a leather case, but then again, they cost twice as much! The only thing left to see is scratch resistance, which is where the more expensive glasses really let me down. That test will have to happen naturally, over time. I'm not gonna try and scratch these nice mirrors. Hopefully I can keep that from happening. I'm gonna put these to the test the old fashioned way, by wearing them a lot and maybe dropping them accidentally. (Hopefully not, but probably eventually)
The striking blue lenses and frame pops in a very stylish way. The glasses are lightweight and the lenses are clear and totally free of any distortion. Sometimes I forget I am wearing them, they are that comfortable! The carry pouch provided is nice, but I prefer to place them in a solid case when I am not using them to protect the frames and lenses. Highly recommended!
My husband has been using these for hiking. He says they have a snug and comfortable fit and stay in place when hiking. Solid feel with good hinges and perfect nose bridge. Blue lenses worked especially well to cut snow glare.
I bought these for a road trip and they were great. Quality wise, they are clean smoky-clear frames with a good friction on their hinges. I liked how big they were when driving into the sunset. The provided protective pouch still fit in my F-150's sunglass spot ... and that's where ethey are now!
These square frames are nice and large, so they work well for men with medium to large oval or rectangular heads. They appear high quality and work well with my outfits. The smoke grew with purple frames is a pretty unique color combo. If you are looking for a stylish yet subtle pair of sunglasses, these are a great buy!
